Identificados los progenitores de la uva Tempranillo /1-3/

___Investigadores de la Universidad de La Rioja ha Identificado a los progenitores de la uva Tempranillo entre las variedades de vid minoritarias en el entorno del valle del Ebro. Son Albillo y Benedicto. Esta es la primera determinación del origen genético de una de las variedades de uva más cultivadas en España.

___ Investigadores del Instituto de Ciencias de la Vid y del Vino-ICVV (Gobierno de La Rioja, CSIC, Universidad de La Rioja) y del Instituto Madrileño de Investigación y Desarrollo Rural, Agrario y Alimentario (IMIDRA) han identificado los progenitores de la variedad de uva Tempranillo, la uva tinta más extendida en España con un 20% de la superficie total de viñedo.

___ El análisis de parentesco ha permitido identificar las variedades Albillo Mayor y Benedicto como los padres del Tempranillo. El Albillo Mayor –denominado Turruntés en La Rioja– es una variedad muy conocida, que se cultiva en el centro de la Península Ibérica. Por el contrario, la variedad Benedicto casi no se cultiva ahora, solo queda de forma residual en Aragón, y carece de referencias históricas claras en la literatura vitícola española.

___ Los datos históricos y genéticos reunidos en esta investigación que publicará en julio American Journal of Enology and Viticulture permiten señalar que la variedad Tempranillo podría haber nacido en el último milenio probablemente en el entorno del valle del Ebro.

___ El Tempranillo se utiliza para la producción de vino tinto y en la actualidad está extendido en muchas regiones vinícolas de todo el mundo. Gracias a esta investigación se ha identificado por primera vez la genealogía de una de las grandes variedades de uva española en superficie y valor comercial. Previamente se había encontrado el origen genético de otras variedades como Cabernet-Sauvignon (1997) o Merlot (2009).

___ Researchers at the University of La Rioja have identified the parents of the Tempranillo grape among the minor vine varieties in the Ebro Valley. They are Albillo and Benedicto. This is the first determination of the genetic origin of one of the most cultivated grape varieties in Spain.
___ Researchers from the Institute of Science of Vine and Wine-ICVV (Government of La Rioja, CSIC, University of La Rioja) and the Institute of Rural Research, Agricultural and Food Research (IMIDRA) have identified the progenitors of the variety Tempranillo grape, the most widespread grape in Spain with 20% of the total area of ​​vineyard.
